Your 3-day safari begins from the East Gate of Welgevonden Game Reserve where you will be collected for a 30-minute transfer to the lodge in a 4x4 vehicle (which is as good as a game drive). Pick-up times are between 12h00 and 12h45 daily. By road, the East Gate is 275 km from Johannesburg (±3.5 hrs), so you'll need to leave by 08h30 to arrive on time.
Notable for its ecologically varied scenery and exceptional wildlife viewing, Welgevonden is a 360km² private reserve situated within the Unesco-sanctioned
Waterberg Biosphere Reserve. Cheetahs are something of a specialty in areas of open grassland, and if you’re after Big Five sightings, Welgevonden is
as reliable as it gets for African buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, and rhino.Your late afternoon game drive will traverse the reserve and include a stop for sundowners at a waterhole or elevated site for scenic views.

Arise with the sun and start your day with a game drive across the mountainous bushveld of Welgevonden. You're likely to spot a selection of over 65 mammal
species. However, it is the rare and unusual species like caracal, brown hyaena, aardwolf and aardvark that make game drives here exceptionally exciting. Wildlife
sightings are never overcrowded as the reserve is not open to day visitors. Endemic flora, such as the carnivorous Dorsera Sundew, add variety to this unique
landscape.

After an early morning game drive and brunch at Inzalo Lodge, you'll check out by 11h00 for the game drive transfer back to the East Gate entrance of Welgevonden Game Reserve. Of course, if you've booked an additional night (see options) your departure is delayed.
